Mattie Ross (Hailee Steinfeld) is a fourteen-year-old girl who is looking for her father’s killer. She hires drunken and cantankerous US Marshal Rooster Cogburn (Jeff Bridges) to help her find the killer, who is a fugitive. When Cogburn and Mattie meet Texas Ranger LaBoeuf (Matt Damon), also on the trail of the same man, they decide to join forces. Together, the trio embark on a quest to track down the killer, but quickly find themselves in more trouble than they bargained for.
