Plot

Annihilation tells the story of Lena, a biologist who joins a secret government mission to investigate an area called “The Shimmer”. This area is a mysterious quarantine zone that has manifested itself on the US coast and is gradually expanding, causing a series of genetic mutations in everything that enters it. The only member of the previous expedition to return is Lena’s husband Kane (played by Oscar Isaac), but he is comatose and unable to explain what happened.
